What Makes Lake View Unique?
- Lakeview Museum's Discovery Center - is an area for children of all ages to enjoy hands-on art & science exhibits. The area features more than 30 different displays to challenge and delight the mind, including the mineral house, the cloud ring, the duck-in kaleidoscope, shadow walls, the ever-popular pin wall, and much more.
- Wrigley Field - sits on an irregular block bounded by Clark and Addison Streets and Waveland and Sheffield Avenues. The area surrounding the ballpark contains bars, restaurants and other establishments and is typically referred to as Wrigleyville.
While actual territorial limits and colloquial names are not definite depending on local sources and usage, Lakeview is divided into smaller neighborhood enclaves: Lake View East, Northalsted (a name used by North Halsted businesses), West Lakeview and Wrigleyville. Lake View East and North Halsted altogether form the area popularly known as Boystown. It holds the distinction of being the nation's first officially recognized gay village in the United States by a civic body. New Town is a former community centered at the intersection of North Clark Street and Diversey Parkway.
