Every year there is a festival in uptown Edison Park called "Edison Park Fest". It features food from all around the northwest side of Chicago. Edison Park Fest happens usually around mid-August. Edison Park is named after Thomas Edison, the famed inventor. As a tribute to Mr. Edison, Edison Park was long ago given the nickname of “Electric Suburb” as it was one of the first Chicago neighborhoods to have electric streetlights in place.

What Makes Edison Park Unique?

  • Restaurant Row - one of Edison Park’s most notable features is its restaurant row. People from all over Chicagoland converge on Edison Park’s restaurants for delicious meals in an attractive setting. Edison Park itself hosts a field house and a playground. Several educational and social programs are offered at the park year-round for adults and children.
  • Brooks Park - located on Harlem Avenue, just south of Touhy Avenue, Brooks Park is the most northwestern park in the Chicago Park District. At nearly nine acres, the park features a number of sports and recreational activities, including an established boxing program for youth, teens and adults. The athletes compete in an annual boxing show each December at the park.
  • Olympia Park -the 10-acre Olympia Park located west of Harlem Avenue in the Edison Park community offers an immense range of programming for residents. Making the most of its gymnasium and six club rooms, Olympia Park provides instruction in basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, indoor tennis, floor hockey and team tumbling for youth. For those interested in art, there are classes in painting and drawing, arts and crafts and model making. Outdoors, children can learn baseball and seasonal tennis skills.
